I just love PR flacks and their breathless press releases. LOUD was happy to continue the growth of Ampeg, alright . . . . . . . closed down the American SLM production, shipped it all off to Viet Nam. I kept waiting for a vid of Vic Wooten on a 'factory tour', but it never happened . . . . . .
Yamaha obviously needs a bass amp line, despite their attempts over the years. I had some B100II stuff, and PB-1's still change hands. The real question is will they use the brand image to sell boutique-style products at big ticket prices in small numbers, or will they gear up and go head to head with MarkBass, GK, and all the other usual suspects. If the latter, will they abandon their 'BIG NAMM ANNOUNCEMENT---endless backorders---blowout prices three years later' business model for their basses and offer consistent availability for pieces other than the Nate Easts and JP's ?
Time will tell.
