A foothold/Bad, Wicked, Naughty Zut.

Hi,

So, given some dabbling in Facebook over the last part of five-ish years, and the present disappointment with the loss of privacy therein, intentional and unintentional, I have been looking at MeWe as an alternative social media platform for my dabbling given their spoken, albeit untested commitment to privacy and outright expression.  To that end, until a few minutes ago there was no Alembic fan page.  That has been addressed as I saw a need for one.  I felt that perhaps there are those who are fans who might like to find others whom haven't been here as of yet, or are more subdued, and either lead them here or let them find another way to enjoy fraternization within the Alembic family.

The caveat to this is I don't want to run the page so much as partake in discussions on it and oogle Alembics and ask stupid question.  Thus, I wonder if there were those people here who would consider some form of moderation should they be interested in any of this.  Additionally, for those Alembicians who sell instruments via eBay, Reverb, craigslist, or directly, this other page could provide an additional outlet for exposure of these individual's wares or, again, draw them here to the official board.  The other aspect of merit is that an external venue might allow for some worry of offending or off-putting the Wickersham family as hosts could be alleviated, moving this discussion forum from a livingroom or dining-room setting to an analogous restaurant, bar, or coffee house for spirited discourse, should it be prone to arise, and thus inure our present hosts from any past prologue.

I am pretty sure that if this idea is obstreperous and bad/wicked/naughty the MeWe page will dry up quickly and I will shut it down.  However, if it invokes interest, and you are interested in an emergent form of social networking that may either expand or putter out, please feel free to involve yourselves to whatever extent you'd like, especially if you are interested in helping to maintain some form of decorum.

I just thought that I should fess up to what I've done to see if anyone who is interested and more magisterial/more tactful than I might want to assist in the moderation of the page.  I'm just saying that it takes great effort to blather this much without choice four letter words screamed into my computer.

And, as always, feel free to ignore this post, as it is merely a heads up for an alternate venue that might compliment this one and bring others to it, not compete with it.  Effectively, all road lead to Rome, so, "competition" would be laughable.

It's called "Alembic Friends and Family".  Here is the group description:

"This is a group to broadly discuss the enterprise, industry, and music coming from Alembic instruments, equipment, and enthusiasts and end users to produce the social and musical impact that this amalgamation has had on realizing the quintessence of sound across music.

Please visit www.alembic.com, and visit the page for the *official* discussion forum to experience its spectrum of information and opportunities to discuss things pertaining to these singular instruments (http://club.alembic.com/index.php).  Thank you for visiting."
