Not sure why it came out like that. Did somebody here grab that one?

I did.  No hesitation on that one.
I am surprised you didn't pull the trigger Joe.

;D

We must have been looking at it at the same exact time because I saw it, bought it and then came here and saw your post.

Almost did, but I am downsizing, vowing not to buy on Reverb for awhile. I was in the process of uploading basses on my Reverb shop, and that popped up. The bad language became unbelievable here, and I forced myself not to click on it. Congratulations, you got a great deal. Can you afford the $20 shipping :)

Cheers!

Bad language?
What do you mean?

And yes, I do think that I can afford the $20 shipping!   ;)

Question.

The truss cover plate below the fretboard reads "Bro, Lamont Sherrell."
Serial number is 1151.

Does anyone know Lamont Sherrell?

I am assuming that was the original owner.

??

Bad language meaning that I was cussing under my breath, because I could not buy it by my own decree.

Gotcha!

I put in a history request over in the Serial Number/ History request section.

I would love to get some more info on this one. Looks like it is in great condition and the headstock repair looks to be done very well.
Hopefully the preamp isn't noisy.

Pretty wood on this one, congratulations! Did the seller indicate who did the headstock repair?

I own 78-1172. Initially Mica could not find the build sheet info but did give it to me when I took the bass in to have a master volume installed. B-date was 6/30/78. I haven't upgraded the electronics and it is fine in most circumstances.

StephenR, the seller did not disclose who did the headstock repair. I have asked that question specifically but have not heard back yet.
I had a Spoiler years ago with a very similar headstock repair and it never bothered me.

(EDIT / UPDATE) - Just heard back from the seller. He does not know who did the repair but based on the apparent quality of the repair he thinks it may have been done by Alembic.
Hopefully Mica can confirm or deny this. All in all, great bass. It looks like it is in incredible condition for it's age.

Glue is stronger than the wood, if done right.
