RIP [Nole Floyd "Nokie" Edwards]
« on: March 14, 2018, 03:42:28 AM »
Nole Floyd "Nokie" Edwards passed away March 12 at age 82 from complications after hip surgery.

A little taste of his genius.

Peter (who insists that any surgery Nokie had must have been hip, indeed......)

Genius, indeed... a true String Wizard.

Whenever these threads come along, I always try to think of the music left behind... it's not quite as sad then. In a way, it's a form of immortality.  I would hope to leave something worth listening to one day.

A few years ago, he showed up at the guitar store where I work part time.

He was a really nice guy, very personable. He played for us to demonstrate the capabilities of his Hitchhiker guitars (made in New River AZ).

He still had "it" and it was much more than "Walk Don't Run" - lots of nice jazzy, western swing-style stuff.

I took a photo of his signature on our "Wall of Fame". His friend, Bobby Gibson, also signed it.
