New band discovery!

I just came across this band on Facebook tonight & they are incredible! The bass player doesn't play an Alembic, but he blends slap with Chapman Stick technique with flamenco style chording with traditional finger style all in the same song! They are called "Soften The Glare." Check them out!

I have heard of Ryan (bass) when he was in Mudvayne, but they were a little too "metahl" for me so never really gave them a fair chance. 

Soften The Glare has a rather progressive sound and no screaming lyrics (at least in the links you shared) to distract from those three formidable musicians.

Agreed all around. Ryan is a monster. I remember the guitarist Bon from Gong.

You're welcome Pauldo! You are right, I have been M.I.A for a while! It's good to be back! I'm with you on Mudvayne, definitely too heavy for my taste & Ryan's bass does not shine nearly as much as it does in Soften The Glare. I'm also not a fan of the screaming vocals so many metal bands use. My son took me to a Russian Circles concert in LA & musically they were awesome but the vocals killed it for me.

That's a pretty darn decent find!  I really like Ryan Martinie's tone and playing here; his presentation is a lot clearer than what I've heard in Mudvayne. 

I also think the guitar tone (and playing) is really impressive; in the lead break on "Turn Around", I thought I heard really distinct elements of the lead tones from parts of "There and Back", especially "Starcycle", and maybe also on "Wired". 

This was a really cool thing to see today.  Thanks!

You Are correct! Russian Circles does not have vocals. I must have confused them with the opening band!
