If it makes you feel any more relaxed, Coz, I've had two perforated eardrums since childhood. I can hear a mouse fart. I can hear two separate clocks ticking in different rooms if the mice are quiet enough. You'll be okay in a couple weeks, buddy. Post those travel pics for us when you can, and feel better.  :)

Beautiful pic - like calendar-grade cool!

And thanks for the encouragement.

Peter (who finally got an "urgent" appointment with the ENT for 13:30 Tuesday; other place he tried was scheduling "urgent" in February.......)

OK, here's a sample of the 300 or so pix I took; if we could put them right in the body, I'd label them, but that seems a bit unwieldy, so I'll leave you guessing.
And it seems it will take multiple posts.

These ones I will explain:

A Stradivarius from the Medicis' house quintet

They called it the first upright piano in history, but it appeared to be a harpsichord

Some seriously blingy hurdy-gurdies

Really old detuners; labeled a "piano guitar", it has courses of 1, 2, & 3 strings - all of which run over individual moving nuts, activated by the keys on the lower treble bout:  c. 1600s

Buskers in Napoli; percussionist has a set of various-lengthed PVC tubes, the ends toward him which he hit with rubber flip-flops minus their straps.  they were good!  (And a lesson for you youngsters:  If you set up in a tourist spot where a 5 minute break will give you a whole new crowd, you only need 1 ten-minute number eady......)

Nice group of photos.  I have heard the flip-flop pvc instrument before and it truly does have a nice tone.
The statues are amazing.   Creating those is truly art.

It was very much like that here too, Adriaan. I had a last-minute call to fill-in with Harwell-Grice Band last night, and as I was setting up in the taproom of the brewery we were going to play in, out the windows I saw this happening, and just had to go be in that moment.
