Fall has hit the Gulf Islands- here’s Montague Harbour on Galiano, from my sister in law’s place.

The youngest is coming down to help his Mom for a week or two whilst I'm medically incarcerated; he got this shot as his plane to Juneau took off from Skagway.

Nice, David, looks like hibernation time, I like the fog settling in the valleys :)

Hankster, beautiful cove and frosted hillsides.  Do you have extreme tides?  The docks extend out pretty far.

New water storage tank on my Franklin County route. This one just went in service a couple weeks ago, and will supply fire protection and a boost in pressure for an Industrial Park under construction; I'll be checking it on Wednesdays from here on. (the scenery wasn't much yesterday, but the structure is very cool... I could live in here!)

Rob,  the tide is significant - the highest tide is about 10 feet above the mean this time of year. But the bay also is quite gradual so at the lowest tides you need to be quite far out to get the depth needed for the larger fishing boats and yachts that sometimes moor there.

In fact I see today it’s 12 feet above the mean low tide. So in a shallow bay like that one, that translates easily to many yards of exposed or too-shallow bottom. There is a marina that takes up the only spot where the shore drops steeply off.

Cold, grey, and a light frosting of snow this morning on the way to log-in the Boones Mill Water Treatment Plant. Winter is surely coming.
