Beautiful, Gregory & Dave; I'm so dern sick of the flatlands!

On the up side, Thursday they told us that the snow that would start Friday evening would drop 9 inches on us by Saturday afternoon; the total so far is somewhat less than one flake - 49° and sunny!

Whaddya talking about?  This flake has been in Chicago for years!  :)

Humor aside, I've always said the Chicago weather people need to make a double probobility forecast.

Something like "80% chance of snow, 10% chance that we are correct."
The only thing that stays the same is change.

Anybody know any iphone/ipad apps that allow you to see the file size of a picture and reduce the file size of a picture to a known size?

Superb picture Dave.  I've always loved forests, especially when they have that ethereal mist thing going on.

Yes, indeed. Spooky forest.

I couldn't really capture it, but the lake picture I posted was taken yesterday morning and there was a weird haze the sun hadn't yet burned off. It was a scorcher here later yesterday - 95° or something. I quit looking at 90°.

Not sure if this is helpful Jazzy, but for the purposes of this board and TalkBass, I've found the easiest thing to do is send the pictures to myself as a MMS. The files are automatically resized below the 500 KB limit that way. It does tell me what the file size is first before I download. I'm guessing your iPhone will do that too.

+1 on the sunset.

Dave I can almost hear the mosquitoes buzzing looking at your morning walk.  ;)

Graeme; that ethereal mist thing is definitely one of the benefits of living here.

Paul; interestingly, this year I haven't noticed the mosquitos as much as I have in the past.  I suppose it could be that it's been a bit dry here recently overall, despite the occasional thunderstorms.  But gnats buzzing in my ear; I do hear that.

I didn't take this one, but I was there to witness the spectacle. The gal that plays cajón with our string band caught this surreal rainbow shot last Friday after a pop-up thunderstorm roared through their farm in Fincastle, Virginia.

Thought I'd share a couple pictures from my daily walks around the bustling metropolis of Masons Cove, Virginia... I've got a few more, but resizing them is proving more challenging than usual.  :P

Couple more, with a hat-tip to John McVie, for some not quite Bare Trees...

The last picture is taken from the Appalachian Trail Catawba Mountain trailhead. It's about 3-1/3 miles from my house. (and 700 vertical feet above...)   :P
