Series one noise

Hey Everyone,just got my new (to me)1985 Series 1.love everything about it.except,when I go to a rehearsal studio it is very noisy.I have to put the bass into stand by after every song.I know the older series have rf issues,that only happened once,but this is very noisy.please note when I am home or recording its fine.I will be taking my bass rig to the rehearsal studio mext week.for the record my 83 Distillate is fine ,nice and quiet

As Keith says the hum canceling procedure is the first thing to try. From the sound of it your bass has more of a problem in that respect than mine which wasn't loud at all but  noticeable if I was pretty close to electronic gear. I had been considering sending it back to Alembic for an upgrade but the costs of doing that from the UK are prohibitively expensive taking shipping and insurance into account, so have had a serious session on the humcancelling procedure recently and have got it near silent now. Taken it on a few gigs and it's been fine. Fingers crossed it stays that way. I hope you find a solution with the hum cancelling procedure.

This might be a red herring in your case but worth mentioning as it was something that I discovered, eventually, when I first had my series guitar. If there are any of those ethernet over mains cable adaptors in the building that can cause intereference that appears as hum from the bass/guitar. I had these in my home and when I turned them off, the noise went. Before I discovered that I spoke to Ron who suggested amongst other things to try the guitar on batteries only and see if that was any quieter. It was and that led me to look for what was causing intereference on the mains.  Incidentally it had the same affect on my Roland JC 120 combo. Since then I've changed the adaptors and not had any issues with that sort of interference.

I ADJUSTED THE HUM CANCELLING PROCEDURE AND IT HAS MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE.THANK YOU.IS THERE A WAY I CAN TEST THE 5 PIN PLUG?MANY THANKS FOR THE HELP

The hum cancelling adjustments usually work well and once you know the procedure can be executed quickly. Good to hear they helped. Don't think you are going to be able to test the five-pin connector without the proper cable and power supply. If all the wiring looks intact, though, it should be fine.
