Bass Case

Maybe one of you fine folks can help me.

I have a Spoiler Exploiter, which I absolutely LOVE, but the case I have for it is about the size of a small boat. I'm looking to get a smaller case, or better yet, a gig bag. I know Alembic has gig bags, but they're also a bit on the price-y side. The Explorer-style body and the medium scale neck precludes a lot of gig bags, so I'm curious if there's anything out there (reasonably priced) to get my bass from one local show to another. I saw a Warwick Softlight Case, but thought that might not be wide enough, and was also thinking about a keyboard case, but that would be too long.

Thanks for your help.

The problem with the Exploiter body shape is that it takes a large rectangle to encompass the instrument - so the only way to get a smaller case is to move away from the rectangle to a case that is contoured to the instrument.

I am currently investigating this issue and the best solution seems to be companies that make custom cases for electronic instruments, computers, etc. I am looking at getting a case tailored to my Spyder from a very sexy dimpled aluminium (

Hey maybe you guys can get about 10 Exploiter types to get together and get a quantity discount.  Hey, I'm not kidding. I'll bet there are plenty out there that would like a custom case for the Exploiter.

count my guitar player in, he hates his Exploiter case it's the size of a Buick and if he can get a new case at a good price he will give his old case for my Series 1, I'll just have to gut it and and put my padding from my case in it

My Exploiter case is a real pain to move around but at the same time I am glad I have it. The gig bag it came with just wasn't protecting it properly. It was getting banged about in transit from vehicle to venue and back and I had stopped taking it out of the house until until I could order and receive my hard shell case. Expensive case but well worth the protection it affords. To me, I just look at it as resigning myself to the fact that it's part of the territory of Exploiters.
