Yes ...about that wood of Bonnie.
It IS -according to Mica- dark walnut. It is a californian member of that wood family that she called Clarowood. A the brothers pointed out that there is even some spalting in that capping, tints of red, darkbrown near black and tints of olive green.
Jan and Steven also found the sound different as Marylin (BTW I don't think Jan is set for that name but I definitely am ...gosh ...what a gal...what a gal ...what a gal). What precisily ..I dunno. I have dumb ears.

That world chapter thing (the AWS -home idea) is stille spooking through my head but I am in some profesisonal mess right now so I have to figure some thinsg out first.

Oh ...another thing, we all experienced that evening how handy (that's the good word) it is to have that third hand: Steven going bobbediboddedibobbedibobbedibobbedi (no not you Bob) for some time and in the mean time Jan on Tweak Peaks ....big fun and great sound shaping in the make!

I have a small feeling we might have inspired some of you to organize something like this in your area? Maybe one day someone will see it even bigger and organises something worldwide?

Shaun, I can completely understand you are really confused now! In your case, I would also have a terrible time choosing between the Quilted Maple, Coco Bolo, and The Clarowood Walnut. I really like Bonnies top, it?s an incredible figured top that you don?t see that often. So, why don?t you have a combination of the two ? Maple top or back and Walnut top or back?

Yeah it was a great evening,woohoo!
Basses all over the place,noise all over the place,amps all over the place not to forget some fine Italian Espresso(I've got Italian roots )
I was always saying.....gosh......what an amount of money that is gathered here......
We had a ball in a very nice atmosphere.
I'm going to check out on an Mark King Deluxe made in about 1990/1991 in a big music store here in Belgium.

Hi Jan!

With regards to the wood question, I had originally considered having the top as one wood and the back as another, but I think I'd have just as many problems deciding which wood to use for which facing! Luckily, Factory to Customer has put me back on track and convinced me my first decision (walnut) will be right (its the same bass you commented on). Hopefully the pieces I'm looking at will still be available. I totally agree though; every beautiful Alembic I see makes me think I want one like that! Interesting how different woods seem to suit different body shapes though (which is another reason I've settled on walnut; I think the Triple O will work better with that wood, although I think I may prefer the standard body shape in maple). Anyway, thanks for your comments and all the best! And Steven, good luck with the Mark King!

Dino, you are right. We must convene the ANEC. Drunken rabbits and all. Sounds like a challenge from the ABC doesn't it? Perhaps after the Patriots win the Super Bowl, which should be about the same time we finish digging out from this snowstorm.....

We can even have it at my house too. I'll have to clear the wife and kids out for a day.
Having them at the jam sessions are nice but you really can't fiddle too much.
Maybe after the holidays, we can get together. Yourself, Mark Dufresne and Brother Paul the Good One, and of course anyone that wants to join in!!!!

Hi Brother Paul!!!

Yes, the Boston area got buried with snow this weekend. It snowed for 36 hours in some places leaving as much as 2-3ft. It was one of those weekends I was glad to NOT be working. We just relaxed and enjoyed each others company. Remember our uncle talk about slowing things down a bit? It was nice to be home!!!

Do you not get snow in your area? I'll send you some, I've got plenty here!!!!

Brothers Paul (Bad and Fake!?)

That's one of the reasons I like living in the SF bay area (besides being close to the Alembic factory, of course!)You don't have to shovel to get out of your driveway, but if you want snow, it's only a few hours drive away. (ok, probably more that a few when you get stuck in the traffic, but hey!)

Maybe I should start a Bay Area Alembic Club? (BAAC)

Actually, we VERY RARELY get tornados...not like in the midwest. The earthquakes, well...we haven't rattled much in the last few months (except when I turn the volume up) but that's the price you pay for the better weather. No matter what, you have to contend with something.

I love San Francisco!!!! One of my favorite cities. I'd live there in a minute (if I could convince the wife to move back to California). I'd go through a hundred quakes to get away from this cold and snow. I was living in LA the time of the Northridge quake so I know what I'm asking for but...

I have to agree Paul TBO, our version of football is nothing like your version is it!?!? Hockey is probably more related to soccer than our football is huh!?!?

Anyway, I'll be California dreamin' for the next 4-5 months now.

San Francisco is great! We love visiting there. We don't have the snow problem and Jacksonville does have a NFL team, sort of. That would be the Jaguars, Paul, but I would move to No. California in a heart beat. The big problem is the same house I have in Florida would cost about 5X as much on the West Coast.
I thought Belgium got a lot of snow. That idea probably comes from watching the movie The Battle of the Bulge.

If your willing to drive for over an hour each way to and from work (or more) you can get a place that's only outragously expensive...(that's why it took me 'til I was...how old again??...to get an Alembic)
