Looks like you got your serial number info, which is great. I purchased a bass that was listed here awhile back, from the brother of the owner, who had recently passed.

He walked it over to a UPS store with the guitar in the case, and handed it over to them. I then contacted the store and gave them my CC info, and paid to have them pack it, insure it, and ship it. It all came to about $160 from Raleigh NC, to Houston TX. All the shipping and packing liability was on UPS that way. If you are in California, you have a good chance someone will pick it up. Otherwise, depending on your location, would be best to ship it.

I am sure there will be interest here, since there are many members who already have power supplies and cables, so it would not be a deal breaker. If there is a chance you would like to do a partial swap, TalkBass is another option.

Good Luck!

Stephen,

Thanks for all of the great info and advice. I just got the build sheet today from Mica. I will be taking it to a UPS store for a shipping estimate and posting for sale here.

Thanks again,
M Maddox

I might also add that you should have the ability for members to email you directly. I just sold several Alembics here, and it was done through email, not the posted sale thread. And I was also schooled by a member that listing the price too low was not a good idea, since it was then a permanent searchable record. He could not sell it at a profit in the future, since everyone would know how much he paid for it.

Hope it helps. Cheers!

Be sure you have a way to safely secure payment before you ship. In this day and age I would be hesitant to use anything other than an electronic payment service for something of this value.

Talkbass is awesome for transactions, that's where I picked up my Alembic, using Paypal for the money. The shipper sent it from Chicago to Washington and I crossed the border to pick it up.
I also found my latest upright on Talkbass, although it was near home.

You don't want to 'cod' a package where the shipper hands over your bass to the 'buyer' who pays with a cashiers check (fake). That is how a guy in San Diego recently lost his $10,000 '56 pre bass. The 'buyer' even hacked a facebook account to make the deal work.
