I completely agree with you here. But, in order to retain a possible connection to the instrument's roots when it comes to the refinish work, I would suggest the seller contact Tom Lieber. He may have been involved in the construction of this bass. He and Doug Irwin collaboarated on a few instruments and I know he did the restoration work on Pete Sears' bass. It's like when I had one of my vintage BC Rich Bich's restored a number of years ago, I had Neal Moser do the work. Seems more fitting that way. Keeping it in the family, so to speak.
BTW...there have been a couple of beautiful Irwin basses posted over on the RU Kind Forum.
