76-270

A big Thank You goes out to Joe for bringing these two basses together, both made from the same piece of Zebrawood way back in the '70s:

On the left 75-174 and on the right 76-270

Hey Rob, I loved your idea of putting a tree back together. Glad I could help you make that happen. Have fun!

Beautiful Basses! They sure look like "The Zebrawood" to me.
My Series 1 sn 215 is cut from the same clothe.  :)

That is a beautiful thing right there.  Well, two beautiful things I guess!    ;D

I may have posted this thought on the other thread, but the pickups on #270 are interesting. I can't recall seeing a caramel-colored pickup in the more modern shape... aren't they usually the earlier type with two mounting tabs?

Thanks!  Three actually, Peter's is quite nice as well!

I think I would assume they are newer pickups.

Looking through a lot of photos of ‘76 Series basses lately it appears as though this shape was common, so I’m now going with the assumption that the pickups are original.

One of my all-time favorites.  8)

I was thinking #76-270 was a medium-scale though, Rob...  ??? Does she she just look that way when pictured next to #75-174 maybe? Neck is set a little bit deeper in the wings?

I think it's just the angle in the photo at the top of the thread, both 76-270 and 75-174 are long scale basses.
