Hi Mica-san,

I purchased these bass about 18 years ago in Hawaii.
If you get a chance I would appreciate any details you have on “75A049 2ND” and “84S3136”.
Especially meaning of “2ND”.

75Ao492nd.   I always wondered where that bass ended up.   I used to own it.   I remember selling it a long time a go to a gentleman in Hawaii.  Maybe over 25 years ago.    I never heard from him after that.   Were you the person I sold it to?

I also asked about that serial number when I had it.  75 of course was the year it was made.   They said that the A signified that it was an export model perhaps.   The O in the serial number is not a zero.   It is an alpha character.    No one at the factory today can tell me what the O is for.   They said it was stamped by someone who is no longer affiliated with the company so they don't know what it means.   49 is the serial number.   For some reason in 75 there was a separate line of serial numbers.   They were actually in the 200 to 300 range back then, but some were made with lower numbers with an A proceeding it.  I think that was for the export models?  I owned A O13, A O62, A 49 from 1975.   The 2nd means that it was recorded as either a factory second, or that there is a 75AO49 out there with this being the 2nd one?   Who knows?   I could never find a reason for it to be a second.   The bass was just terrific. 


I miss that bass a lot.  I want it back!

Yes, I bought this bass from you long time ago when I live in Honolulu Hawaii.
Now I am in Tokyo Japan.
The bass is so cool and I am very grateful to you.
The bass itself has many scratch and cracks on the paint, but in very good conditions.
For lots of moving, I lost my power supply.
So, I am making a power supply unit now.
Either way, I am very grateful to you again.

That is a very special bass!

In case anyone else is interested to know, it has a zebrawood top and a maple core.   It also has a pretty fancy walnut back.   The neck recipe is maple with walnut strips.   The peghead veneers are what look like cocobolo or some other type of rosewood.   The fingerboard is padauk and striking with those abalone inlays.  The sound of this bass really cut through no matter who I played with.   Maybe it was that combination of wood, or the maple core.

I see the pickup selector is still the broken one that I had on it.   It's just  the regular pointer with the plastic part broken away.   It is quite functional like that with the aluminum on it being knurled.

It was my main bass back then and was the bass I used when I played with Barbara George, Irma Thomas and Sunpie.

I am enjoying the performance by creating an external power source using 4 006P batteries for Series 1.
Next, create a DS -5 compatible power source that has lost due to moving.

I didn't find any details about the 1975 bass. I'll make the thread with a (u) and keep an eye out for when files and details turn up in weird places.

The part that looks like a crack in the picture near Q-switch is a pattern of wood grain.
The body is still very good condition.
