Bass Case

The dealer who sold me my new Excel 4 was only able to offer to me a standard rectangular shapped case, which, in my opinion will afford little protection to this fine instrument.  Can any one offer any suggestions as to a mfg/model of quality cases.  Apparently, in my area (Montreal, Canada) I cannot seem to find any.

The Excel fits nicely into a standard generic P-Bass case.  It's on par with the quality of the cases made for Alembic Basses. That's what I put my Excels in - works great for me.
I think the next level of cases would be a road case, but they're too heavy and impractical (and expensive) for daily use.

Good luck.

You can order a custom fitted case from Alembic for $280 - http://www.alembic.com/prod/prices.html

But my preference for everyday use is the Gator deluxe moulded case: http://www.gatorcases.com/sections/prdct/prdct-guitar.htm

These are widely available and pretty cheap.

Believe it or not, the Excel fits in a Spoiler case.  I bought a road case for a custom Alembic once. It's huge and looks like a big yellow casket. You have to ask yourself how much abuse is this thing gonna take going from gig to gig. I once swore I'd never use a gig bag. I do now. It's a large Sam Ash padded model Good enough for short hops to rehearsals and small gigs. SKB makes a number of molded cases that are very sturdy and pretty cheap in price. Carvin sells molded cases as well. Coffin cases are usually on sale. Perhaps you could ask your dealer to order you one and get a break on the price? Good hunting.

The dealer in Canada doesn't usually order cases with the models that will fit in more generic brands. If you get an order for hardshell case in with them soon, we can pack one of their new Excels in it. The shipment is scheduled to leave on Tuesday, so order from them this week to save $$ on shipping.

Mica, thanks for the heads-up, but due to prior year end commitments, I doubt if I'll be able to get down to the dealer on time.  Since I have a standard rectangular case, it will have to do for the time being.
Happy New year to all!
