TRADE F-1X FOR F-2B
« on: March 01, 2017, 06:23:08 AM »
Have nice F-1X purchased used and checked-over by Dan Abell at Abell Audio in Columbus, OH.  New tube and clean bill of health.  Looking to trade for F-2B.  Any interested owners?
Thanks,
Backline Bob

I don't think you are going to get many takers to trade something that is typically on the market for significantly more cash for something that is typically going for less (Unless of course its really beat up or not working properly).  When I considered selling my F-1X and purchasing a F-2B after acquiring a Series I, it was suggested by several others who frequent this board that I would be better off buying another F-1X.  I did so and could not be more pleased.

Hey Hammer,
Thanks for your reply.  First time on the club page.  Mica at Alembic office suggested we offer unit for trade.
We bought it used from a bassist friend for low $$$$.  It is not mint, but in VG condition with normal rash at the rack mount holes.  Had it checked-out by Abell Audio in Columbus and they gave it a clean bill of health.  I don't normally wheel and deal used - I have a small backline rental business and usually buy new gear.  Don't know what these go for used.  I did check new prices on Alembic site price list and see $100.00 difference between the two.
I would like to keep this one and buy an F-2B to have both for rental in the "perfect" world, but can't seem to get the Fender sound in my head out of this unit.  Reading up on them seems to indicate a slight circuit mod in the F-1X that is not actually all tube signal path as is the F-2B.  I love the old stuff...less knobs the better.  Long live Fender Bassman and SVT volume, treble and bass knobs!
We were hoping to find a player that needed the xtra features on the F-1X (xover, DI, etc) more than the 2nd channel on the F2B.
Thanks again for your speedy reply and we welcome more of your input!
