Awesome. I was never a big Styx fan, but I can appreciate his excellent taste in instruments.

I was never a fan, either, but I must say - nice bass!  They played the Lovely & Charming Mrs. Cowboy's senior prom.

Cool article.

I kind of am/was a Styx fan. I'm old enough to remember seeing them play sock hops at my and nearby high schools for a buck or two. In those days you were also able to have some interaction with the band out back (I'll leave it to you to decide what was going on out back). So a lot is nostalgia but I also appreciate anyone who can hit the high notes in Lady.

Even if I weren't a fan, that's a pretty cool story.  8)

Thanks for the article!

I'm a big fan of early STYX. That ebony faced bass was my introduction to Alembics

Cool story. I appreciate Styx much more now than I did back in the day. The current touring lineup is really good.

Back in 1976 I was in a band that opened for Styx, Tommy Shaw had only been in the band for months, they were a great bunch of guys to work with, the first picture, me with my 61 Precision(a year before I got my Series 1), next 2 are Styx, and the last is my band

May 1976, good times :-) (though I don't remember anything from back then, I got separated from my Mother on the 14th after spending +/- 9 months in her belly)

Dave - that is really cool - thanks for sharing.

I miss the 70's.  My first thought at seeing you in that first photo dressed in white was  - Greg Lake!
