I ended up with it, after a surprising low offer was taken. After playing it, I must say I am starting to rethink playing 4 strings again. It has an amazing sound! The filter on this one is new to me. It however does not have a turn stop, so the filter turns all the way around, and has an impressive "POP" as it goes through where the stop would be. Best to adjust the tone with low volume, then ramp it up. I should replace the filter, but I am afraid I would lose the current sound. It has a few little dings, but finish is like new other than that, is really light, and fun to play.

I have one of these with double P-style pickups and Europa electronics so slightly different. I suggest you to get the filter sorted out as you don't need that pop going on at a live gig. I doubt if you will find a loss of the current sound and in fact it may sound better with a new pot or filter system. You can always send the electronics to alembic to get them serviced. I did that on a filter based system for my guitar and got it upgraded to a 3 positon q-switch.

The Clarostat pots have an internal plastic detent that can wear or break off, allowing the pot to spin all the way around. I am sure Mica can sell you a replacement for a reasonable cost. A new one should not adversely affect the tone in any way.

Thanks guys. I emailed her yesterday. I will have to replace it, because I would blow out eardrums if it was bumped while hooked up to a stage rig. I will put the bad one in an old practice bass, or does somebody else want it?
