Guess who's retiring?
« on: February 03, 2017, 04:28:16 PM »
This guy!

Well, sorta.....
After 38 years, I am retiring from General Motors, effective March 31st. But I have enough vacation time this year that my last day in the office will be Feb. 17th. Exactly two weeks from today.I say "Well, sorta" because I will still be working in the auto industry, but more as a consultant as opposed to the managerial positions I've held for the past 20 some odd years. This means I'll have to turn in the company car. But I have already covered that base....I put one of these in my garage Monday...This specific one was awarded to the World Series MVP. I had to pay $$ for mine

So, the next couple years ought to be rather exciting, as I get into the consulting thing.Peace,James

I thought it meant you were retiring from bass playing! I was like "Whaaaaaat..." but retiring from your "real" job is cool! Congrats!

Hobbies other than music?  Golf, cycling, getting on my wife's nerves.  That pretty much covers it.  I'll be fairly busy doing consulting in the industry.  Also considering teaching a class in a local community college.

Keeping a job on the side is a good idea. Even though I  have retired neighbors I socialize with it is not the same as the socialization I had and miss somewhat through work. It is not something you usually think about if you are retiring at an early age like I did.
