RIP Jim Mouradian
« on: January 19, 2017, 06:58:04 PM »
Jim Mouradian dies at 66 years old.  A great and generous guy who many musicians in the northeast relied on. A loss to the community, he will be missed.

I heard about this. He was my go to guy before I moved to Colorado. As a matter of fact, he was the first guy to take router to my Starfire, starting it on its long journey. He was awfully skeptical at first, and was very gruff with me about it, but after he heard me play and then heard what the mods did, he was an enthusiastic partner in the journey. I spent many an hour in his shop.

And he had the only Fender 400PS I ever played through.

I'm going to miss him. I haven't seen him in at least 15 years, but I always thought he'd be around. Sigh.

At the advice of this forum, he installed a Q switch for me last month. I got to spend some time with him while he did it, and was very impressed. He was a real class act.

Jim and his son Jon both did work on some of my basses, including my MIJ Jazz, a '76 Rickenbacker 4001 I had bought downstairs at Cambridge Music, and Alembic Exploiter (this was all around 2002).

Saddened by his loss, but also aware that because of his care for so many musicians' instruments, so many more people got to be moved by the spirit of music!

A friend sent me a picture of the line around the block for his wake. He touched so many people.
