FS: Persuader [SOLD]
« on: December 18, 2016, 09:41:41 AM »
Hey Guys, Up for sale is my Alembic Persuader, the bass just turned 30 this year. There is a previous owner headstock repair (which is solid, you can see it in the pics below), and one of the pots spins freely but functions perfectly, the brass has tarnished. As some of you know with this model the "J “ bass pickup is lower in volume than the “P”, this is normal. Alembic offers an upgrade to alleviate this issue. Anyway, this will ship in a non original hardshell case.

The bass has always played and sounded very good for me, please don’t let these issues dissuade you. My price has reflected this as well. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Im looking for $1050 shipped in the CONUS only.
Thanks

Nice looking bass at a good price. The glue typically used in a repair like this is stronger than the wood was.

Was the headstock repair done by Alembic?  Also, for the uninformed (aka me), can you please explain what you mean by "one of the pots spins freely"?  Thanks.

Hi, The pots normally have a stopping point when they (for instance) reach ten, then you can dial it back down again turning it the other way. One of the pots on my bass, simply doesn't stop, it just spins theres no "stopping point" for that pot.

Oh to answer the other question you asked...
I do not know if the repair was done by Alembic but the repair is solid, tuning is no issue at all etc....
like gtrguy said "The glue typically used in a repair like this is stronger than the wood was."
I believe this to be the case here.
Thanks

The Clarostat pots typically used have a small plastic internal lug or detent that can get worn or broken off, which allows the pot to turn right around and never stop. Often this does not affect the way it works, except for not knowing by feel where the end of the range is.

That's such a nice-looking Persuader.  8) Love the tan pickups!  :o

Depending on which pot is faulty, that may be corrected by the pan preamp upgrade. (Mica will know ???)

Having done it to mine,  I *HIGHLY* recommend it for these P/J equipped basses... it's an easy-peasy mod, and balancing the output disparity between the bridge and neck pickups really opens up so many more tonal possibilities. I won't say it's like a different bass, but it sure opened my ears hearing that bridge p'up solo'd.  ;)
