Low pass vs high mid low
« on: October 22, 2016, 02:30:16 PM »
i was reading about a bass that has an active preamp with high, mid, and low controls (plus a couple of boost switches).  I was just wondering how the Alembic low pass filter compares and contrasts with separate high, mid, and low for sound shaping.  Do Q-switches affect the mids as they boost the upper threshold of the filter setting?  Does the combination of adjustments of the Q and filter act as an interactive high/mid/low combo filter?  I'd be interested in any thoughts.

The low-pass filter is not an equalizer. There are a couple of threads in the FAQ and Must Reads section that explain this in sometimes technical terms, sometimes more practical (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=308.0 comes to mind).

Mica's post http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=276.msg1101#msg1101 is an excellent hands-on description on how to use the filters to find your tones.

Hi Adriaan,
Thanks for your reply.  I know it's not an eq, I was just wonder if there were any comparisons.
Thanks.
