Hi,who makes a really good gig bag that my S1 would fit into?as i'm in the UK i don't really want to import from the USA,costs too much by the time you get stung with the import and vat,any ideas?cheers,Julian.

I would suggest find yourself a really good padded bag,perhaps an expensive one,i have one for convenience purposes,for times when im in the front seat & my hard shell wont fit in someonesback seat,or if im on the bus or somthing.

What do people use for the Standard Point body style long scale bass?

If you go to the Alembic Store, they offer a bag that fits the Series I/II large body basses. My Series I 4 string Omega body, which measures 49 tip-to-tip, fits in most standard size bags and in a double bag that I have if I need to carry two basses. It only fits in that bag if it is in the back position, with a shorter bass in the front position.

I also have the prototype for the bag that's sold at the Alembic Store. It fits my Series II 5 string Point Body (51 tip-to-tip) with room to spare. I had bought a used Reunion Blues bag from a guy who swore it would fit a 51 bass. One day I'll post a picture of what that looked like. When I discussed it with him, he was more than willing to take it back for a refund, or make me a custom bag to the dimensions of my bass. He was partnered with a guy who used to work at Reunion Blues, so I agreed to let him make me the bag. After I got the bag I suggested he get in touch with Mica. Actually, now that I think of it, there may be a thread somewhere around here about that.

Im not sure whether it would fit a Series size bass but you should look into In case designs

Thanks for your advice guys,my bass is a pointed end S1,but iv'e tried many types here in the UK and most of them seem to be made for fender type basses,really not wide enough for the S1,the hard S1 case is really to big when i take bigger speaker cabs to the gig in my car,so a good high quality gig bag would be ideal,i'll keep looking!anymore ideas would be welcomed,thanks,Julian.

Doesn't Alembic offer a leather gig bag?It's ofcourse manufactured by someone else and I believe it's $500.00 U.S. I can't help but think that perhaps the same company might offer something in a ballistic nylon and therefore less expensive.I'd call Mica or Val and see if they can put you in touch with someone.

i use the ritter myself for my orion. i like it/
would have to give serious thoughts to a bag for the custom i have on order,especially with a heart omega on it, just dont know if i want to risk damage

Yes flaxattack,i know what you mean about the risk of damage,that's why it has to be the right case before i would even think about it!the original S1 case is 25 years old!!and really needs a rest!so if i could find a bag i would be happy with that would be ideal,but it doesn't appear to be a easy task!!and $500 for a alembic is just too much for me,by the time i got it over here with the import etc it would be out of the world price wise,cheers,Julian.

You can contact Modern case company and they will make up a case for you. I had one made for my Brown Bass awhile back

this model is fairly lightweight and was fit to the body, but you will need to provide them with all the measurements, I mean all the measurements for them to make it for you, the price was not too bad for mine (I think around 200-220 range) anyway its lighter than the hardshell case and give the bass alot of protection, just another option for you think about.
