1979 Gibson ES 335 TD [SOLD]
« on: September 12, 2016, 04:46:50 PM »
I'm selling my 1979 Gibson ES 335 TD, tobacco sunburst, in excellent condition.  There is some minor finish checking as would be expected from a guitar of this age, and a dime size spot of buckle rash, but otherwise it is perfect. And it sounds amazing!  Professionally maintained. Comes with original hard case.  $2,500.

Nice looking guitar, Rob. I had one exactly like that from the 1960's. I'm still kicking myself for selling it......

Rob, too.

Thanks, guys.  It's just been sitting in the closet for several years, I'm 100% bass now, so it's best it goes to someone who will play it.  I brought it down and had it set up last week, it is a beauty!

I have one just like it, too, except its a bass, cherry red, is 11 years older, and has some mystery button on it to make it sound 'boomy.'  Mine will be going up for sale soon.  So I wish us both luck.

Thanks rnolan!

Hey Thomas,  your bass sounds very cool, love the old classic hollowbodies!  Good luck with the sale, I'm sure there will be interest!

The 335 body style is a 60's icon, like strats, SGs, and Les Pauls.  They are actually my favorite.  The guitars are more favored than the basses, so someone should pick up the one here, soon.  Now why didn't Gibson put Hagstrom pickups in its EB-2D basses?  Sorry for going off-topic.

Hagstroms in an EB would be awesome.  The guitar is maple, do you know the typical wood used for the EB?

EB-2's were maple with a mahogany necks, I believe.  1's, 3's and 4's were bodies and necks in mahogany.  I used to own an EB-4L in the 70's.  Long scale and not a bad bass.  Kind of Gibson's attempt at a P Bass. with split pickup.
