Hi,

Would like to know some details related to the Essence 5 I own.
When it was made and any spec details you can find.

A sample picture of this one accompanied with a Stingray below:

Hi Igor,

Here's what I found in the file for your bass:

serial number: 00K12411
top: Zebrawood
accent: Purpleheart pinstripe
body: Mahogany
neck: 5-piece Maple with 4 Walnut pinstripes
scale: 34" long
fingerboard: Ebony
inlays: none
pickups: MXY56
controls: Essence (volume, pan, filter, mono output)
originally made for: Manny's Music, NY
birthday: July 7, 2000

The original owner was in Pennsylvania.

The side dots on this bass are bronze dots. A little sanding with 400 grit paper or white Scotch Brite down the edge of the fingerboard will clean them up so you can see them better. It's nice if you can take a drop of lemon oil on your fingertip to the edge of the board after you sand it.

Thank you very much for your comment on the side dots, I had a great difficulty spotting them during some gigs I played. I will try your recommended sanding with lemon oil post processing. Big cheers for finding that info, I didn't know it's 16 years old (like my oldest kid) ;)

Thank you very much for building it, this has always been my dream bass and now I do nothing but amaze myself and others with its tone and looks. For sure this will not be the last Alembic I own ;)

Igor, In the Alembic serial number system the first two numbers are the year the instrument was completed. A '00' would be the year 2000 and a number such as '94' would be 1994. The serial number description can be found here:

http://www.alembic.com/support/reference.html#sernum

There is a lot of other information about your Essence and Alebmic's in general in the FAQ and Must Reads areas of the club. In particular is Joey's setup post under Must Reads.
