Series 1 (2013) Myrtle
« on: August 28, 2016, 09:02:47 AM »

Below is a multi track video of my 4 string Myrtle Series I.  This is strung up as a Tenor bass.

All tracks including the octave divider bass track were all recorded on this bass. So versatile!

Very nice, sounds great!  Just curious, what scale length is your bass?

Thanks.  I asked because it appeared to balance nicely when you were playing.  Beautiful bass, sounds great, cool tunes!

Absolutely lovely tone and playing! Can you tell me which strings you use? Brand and gauge? I also play a Series l with tenor tuning, but I have troubles finding a high C string, that does produce the right tone. Yours is ideal.
Cheers,
Markus

Markus,   Thanks!  Funny you mention you mention strings. These are old (like very old, over a year or more) D'Addario Pro Steel XLs. .80, .60, .40, .28.  I am due for another set.  Just goes to show how profound Alembic Series electronics are. :)

Thank you, Brian. I once had a bad experience with D'Addario Pro Steels but I think, now I will give them a new try.
Really hard to believe that your strings are that old. On my bass, old strings sound just...well, old.  ;)

Thanks Edwin!  BTW I am using the Grace Design Felix di/preamp recording in stereo and it works pretty well. You were the guy that turned me onto it.  Hope you have been well?

Glad that worked out for you! I've been loving mine, even not in stereo. It goes where I go.

I've been well, having lived in Modulus land for about 4 months while my Starfire is at the mothership getting some tweaks. I'm starting to get some twinges of withdrawal. :-) However, I'm enjoying the Modulus quite a bit. And realizing how behind I am in my practicing, thanks for the inspiration!
