Recommended Alembic Work in MA / RI / New England?
« on: August 16, 2016, 08:52:30 AM »
Hi,

I'm looking to add a Q switch to my Essence, as well as some other parts that I'm about to order from Alembic. Any recommendations for the MA / RI / New England area? Thank you.

If you are in MA, try Mouradian Guitars in Winchester.  Jim Mouradian does fantastic work and has been servicing New England musicians for decades.

+1. A great guy who does really fine work. Glad to hear he's still in business. He was my go to guy before I left Boston for Colorado.

+2 - his son Jon does a good job too! Jon worked on a few of my basses back when I moved back to Mass in the early 2000s.

Doing it yourself? I added a Q-switch to the Essence electronics in my Orion bass in about 15 minutes. I drilled a mounting hole and for my bass at least I had to put in a shallow countersink inside the cavity so the threads would make it through to the top.

No Sir - I definitely want to leave this one to a professional.
