Marvin Gaye

So - did Ed Sheeran rip off the Marvin Gaye song or not?
I reckon that if it hadn't been mentioned then nobody would have noticed.  They are both basic chord progressions and good songs.
Come to that "Let's Marvin Gaye and Get it On" sounds like "Every breath You Take"
I seem to have always heard one song sounding like another (to the irritation of our children) but it is only in fun - not a suing issue.  I think the suers were only co-writers anyway?

The rumor is they actually tracked the song to the drum track from "Let's Get it On", then dropped their own version of the drums on top after the fact.

I like Ed Sheeren (sort of), and I generally agree that there are too many lawsuits in music.

But -- if you listen to the tracks back-to-back, or interleaved, it's pretty obvious. Upon listening, it seems to me the tracks are even more similar than "Blurred Lines" and "Got to Give It Up". Uh oh. :-[
