Starry Night--substantial savings!
« on: July 04, 2016, 06:09:19 PM »
While perusing the usual websites for Alembics, I came across this:

https://reverb.com/item/613315-alembic-4-string-mark-king-deluxe-2002-high-gloss-polyester-coco-bolo-dark-reddish-brown

Looks like the price for this awesome bass has become very reasonable. Someone should snag it! I love it, and I would love to have it, but I have no money to spend and it would probably be way too heavy for me. In fact, I'm quite sure that the optimal bass for me is a really lightweight Essence. Ah, someday....

Anyway, thought I would share in case anyone is interested.

Here's the link to Featured Custom "Starry Night"... http://www.alembic.com/info/fc_dm.html

That one's a stunner to be sure. Hate to see the guy let it go, but sometimes you gotta' do what you gotta' do. Been there.

It is a very nice bass.  However, I'm not sure that I'd agree that $5,000 for a Mark King is quite yet in the park as "reasonable" given that for this price one can acquire  a nice used Series I or a slightly older Series II.

Let's hope it eventually comes down a bit further and someone snaps it up.

$5k is a lot more realistic than the $11k it's been listed at, and like Brian pointed out there are a few nice used Series basses to be had for less.

That said, Starry Night is equipped with Anniversary electronics, reportedly the next best thing to Series... I would guess considering that bonus, plus some pretty unique custom features and premium wood, this one might fetch a bit more than a MK Signature Model would. He's getting warmer. I'm curious to see what it brings actually...
