Hey I am visiting in central florida, and was wonding if any of us were located in the tampa, Orlando, Area?

Well, even if no one responds, you can hit Bass Central. You can count on finding some bass players and several Alembics there.

Close, Ed, but not quite. I'm roughly 140 miles to the NE in Jacksonville. Of course with normal Orlando traffic and trying to go by Daytona during race season it could take a day and a half to go that far. I hope you enjoy your stay in Florida and you'll surely enjoy Bass Central.

If you go to Bass Central, walk through the front door, take about 10 paces into the store. Take a deep breath, then turn around. Your breathe will be taken away!

When I was there, they had a burl maple Triple Omega with pistol grips up on that wall, along with about 7 or 8 other stellar Alembics.

Well I went to Basscentral.. What great service!!!!Grasshopper, keith, and Beaver were stellar. I played almost all of their alembic inventory, I even played the rouge chromallusion six string, played great but the absence of any wood is somewhat of a turn off. My favorite basses were the new Balenced K models, I was skeptical when I saw them online but realy enjoyed their styling in person, the necks were extremely fast and thin!!! This was the first time I got to play a wide variety of alembics in one sitting . I am still in shock.

That is what happene to me when I got to basscentral, I didn't know where the Alembics were in the store, and when I turned around to my wifes gasp, I too was taken by the sight, of 6 or 7 georgeous alembics.

Try visiting the factory. I don't think even the waiting room at the Pearly Gates could be any more awe inspiring.

True, Bill, but you expect it from the factory. The two places do have some things in common, though. Neither place is much to look at from the outside. They are both quite impressive once you get through the front door. And, in each case, what you see inside the front door is just the tip of the iceberg.

I think the most impressive thing about each place, though, is that in spite of their respective wall decorations, neither is pretentious.

I live in the West Palm Beach area, but I am originally from the Tampa area. Yes, the Bass Central staff is amazing, especially Grasshopper and Beaver! I hadn't seen them in five years, and Beaver remembered everything, which I couldn't believe.

I have three Alembics myself, plus an F-1X preamp. Both of my Excel 5-strings were through Bass Central (1 off the shelf, 1 custom ordered), and also my F-1X. I have found finding a gig in my new area tough, especially since I am not into the southern rock/classic rock thing.

Last time I was there, I had just purchased (sorry Alembic) a Rick Turner Renaissance Fretless. I needed that upright acoustic sound, and was impressed with the turner. Anyways, I was walking out after talking with Beaver for about an hour, and they threw me a couple of packs of DR Red Devils to try. Great guys.
