The original Fab Five are back, are semi-unplugged, and still in fine form. I caught their act at the ubiquitous Starland ballroom in lovely Sewerville, er, um, Sayreville, New Joisey on Wed. night. Packed house (lots o' young barely-dressed honies walkin' around, woo hoo! LOL!) and a rousing non-stop one set was the order of the night. Frank Hannon was excellent as usual on his acoustic and electric Gibsons, and Brian Wheat held down the low end on his Beatle Bass re-issue. Tommy Skeoch was looking and sounding a little worse for the wear compared to the rest(he had another nice long rest in rehab between last year's and this years Starland gigs), but was still decent on guitar anyway. Jeff Keith still has good pipes (sings and looks the same), and Troy Luccketta is still an excellent (and very underrated) power drummer. Strong songwriting and compositional skills, as well as good musicianship (and a lack of spandex and hairspray) still sets these guys off from the pack of late 80's/early 90's Hair Bands originating during the same era.
Especially considering the paltry $22 Gen. Adm. ticket price, highly recommended! Twenty years of rockin' and partin' hasn't hurt these guys too much at all.
