Windows XP Blues

Hey folks.  I'm sort of in IT pergatory.  My wife, who's an IT Manager, has upgraded all our home computers to Windows XP.  This is great except that since the upgrade I have been unable to post messages to The Alembic Club or TalkBass (sob).  I am able to read messages, view pictures and even download stuff.  I have noticed that neither forum has suffered from my absence.
 
The good thing is I can post from my office.  The bad news is I rarely have the time.  So until my IT princess figures out which bits and bytes to rearrange, I'll just be silently lurking, with an ocassional posting outburst from work.

I plan on upgrading my home system to XP this weekend as well...so I guess I may have this little glitch to look forward to...guess I'll find out soon enough.
 
Good luck w/ your system and I'd be very interested in knowing the solution to this problem when your wife finds one.

I would first look at the firewall settings and then at your Internet Explorer settings.  
 
By default, the firewall is turned on when you first install XP. Since it is just my wife and myself that use my network, I have not had to add users to my system, so I'm not sure if the admin(your wife) has to allow privelages to you or not. Do you have to login when you start the computer?
 
Also, under Internet Explorer there are some security settings. I have had problems with these in the past. For example, not being able to download files or open a link in a new window because the security settings were too high.
 
Do you have any other firewall or security programs installed?
