I don't know much about this stuff, but here goes. I know that Alembic used A,B,C, and D to designate how many speakers were in each cabinet. The size of the speaker designated the number of the cabinet. For example, if Garcia used a B-12 cabinet, that would be 2 - 12 inch speakers. A D-12 cabinet would be four twelves, A-15 a single fifteen inch, and so on. They used to come loaded with whatever you wanted, but mostly were JBL and Gauss. They used to have a showroom that you could A B the different brands in different configurations. If I am not mistaken, the cabs they used to make were for the most part sealed enclosures. I think it would be cool to have an A-15 with a tie dyed front.
