I need some advice:

I have a chance to buy a Q S C MX1000 power amp in very clean cosmetic and electronic shape for $350. While I'm very aware of QSC's great reputation, I have no hands-on experience with them. It's 350w/channel @ 4 ohms, which fits the bill nicely.

Good deal ?

I've had a QSC PLX 1602 for about 3 years now and love it. When I was shopping around for an amp, I asked Mica if they had any recommendations. She had a vague recollection that somone at QSC had purchased an F-1X.

I emailed QSC and sure enough, the reply I got back was from the design engineer that had purchased the F-1X to use in the final design testing of the PLX series. That sold me. The company was willing to go to that length to be sure the product was suitable for the market.

I think it's probably a good deal.

I have 3 QSC PLX's 3600, 2400, 1600. All are light and powerful. I do sound for a company and they switched over to them they have 4 in all. One passed DC when the bandleader (against my advice) wanted more kick drum and bass. I was running 2 EAW LA18 subs with the 3600 in bridge mode stacked bringing the load to 4 ohms. Pop went the weasel and the amp. My JBL's never blew! But QSC replaced the motherboard N/C. My advice is to run them in parallel or stereo. I'm not a fan of bridging anymore.

I am hoping you can offer me some advice. I have 2 QSC PLX 1602's that are each currently running in bridge/mono mode. Both are running 1000w @ 8 ohms into 2 Bag End cabs (4x10 & 1x18). The 4 10's handle 800w @ 8 ohms. The 18 handles 300w @ 8 ohms. Each cab has a peak of 1600w & 600w respectively. I have a feeling I am over amping the 18. Should I run the 18 amp in stero instead @ 300w @ 8ohms. Any suggestions you have would be welcomed.

I use my 1602 in parallel with an epifani 310 600 w @ 5.2 ohms and an acme low b 2 @4 ohms. I find it's loud enough for my extremely loud band. I don't do bridge mode anymore. I sometimes use a big ben 18 cab with a Carvin 18 4ohm driver. I've moved over to 4 ohms when I can. A pro sound guy I know has all of his loads at 2ohm and runs in stereo. He uses serious gear for major sound reinforement. He told me, bottom line is db is db. loud is loud. Each channel in the qsc will run independently and recognize the load seperately. I would try one amp. If you have the F1X use the high and low out. If you don't have a xover function, try parallel mode. You can also try putting the cabs in series and running bridge mode. If there is a problem the amp should shut down. RTemember clipping is not good for the speakers or the amp especially in bridge mode. You have a lot of options to try.
