The BBC have been running a series called 'Soul Deep' documenting the history of Black American music. This week was the rise of funk from James Browns early years through Sly, Bootsie, Parliament to hip hop. It's quite funny now seeing what everyone was wearing in the 70's - George Clinton dancing in the streets in a cape and chains on 6 inch platforms must have been quite a sight. There was alot of interview footage with Bootsie and he came across as a very articulate and passionate musician - just as gaudy as his signature bass though ;-)
