I wore my Moog T-Shirt today, and just happened to come across this bit of infromation by chance. Another great innovator gone. . .

The Moog synthesizer helped my fellow players and me take one of our first bands from being just another Southern Rock combo in the area to a pretty nifty original music band. . ....Another pioneer gone. Godspeed.

I still own/use Taurus I & II pedals , a Liberation and a Mini that was converted to rackmount by Studio Electrionics.

if it wasn't for him synthesizers wouldn't be where they are today........ what would Wakeman and Emerson etc. have used ?

This is a great loss to the music industry. So many innovations came from this man. Not only his instruments but his work in developing things for the hearing impaired.
How many careers were launched due to him ? Not only
Rick and Keith, lets not forget Wendy/Walter Carlos, Tomita, and many others.
He will be missed by many.
(wish I still had my Tarus pedals)

I too was wearing my Moog t-shirt yesterday. By chance I should add.

The man was a genius. Music is better for his efforts, and the world more sad for his passing. I had been following his progress and was hoping for better news than this...

I still own, and use, my beloved MiniMoog, Moog Source and Moog Taurus II. I've had them for 20 years or thereabouts and I'm not planning on stopping using them any time soon. I wonder how many synths we'll be saying that about in 20 years time that come from the modern crop?

A close friend of mine has Bob's lecture notes from 1973. The friend is an engineer and not a musician, which says something about Dr. Moog's very very wide fan-base. After watching so much technological development being shipped off to the hinterlands, I have to wonder how many more people like Dr. Moog we'll see in our lifetimes. Precious few, I think.
