Wireless ?

Doe's anyone use Wireless with their Alembic? If so, what kind and how does it perform?

I have a Shure UT wireless in my rack, and I use it when I need to, or just want to wander (drives the drummer crazy!). I haven't had trouble with frequency response, but everything goes to FOH and in-ear monitors. I know Mica recommends a 100' cord over any wireless, however!

I'm not a big fan of using a wireless, and prefer to use a wire, but its nice not to be tied down and to walk around the club/ go out in the crowd once in a while.
I have the Samson Airline bass wireless, I used it  on 8/28 at BB Kings in NYC,  with no problems at all, I walked all over the place during my show, tho I wasn't playing my Alembic cause a majority of what I was playing required a 6 str bass, I was using my Tobias ( pre-Gibson) Basic 6 and my Modulus fretless 7 str, it worked very well with both, I'd like to try it next show with my Exploiter and Series I........ we'll see.

I've been using a Nady 201 with my guitars for about 20 years.  I love it.  No tangled cords, no surprises when I get too close to the mike.  The sound seems to be the equal of a cord, at least I haven't noticed any significant difference.  Last year I bought one of those bug systems just because I figured mine was pretty old and the technology must have improved in the past 20 years.  WRONG!  The sound using the bug was not as good as the Nady or a cord.  Also the bug looked like it wouldn't hold up for 20 weeks, let alone 20 years!  You can get the old 201s on ebay for $50-75.  Just please stay away from channel A - I'm keeping my eye out for a backup for the channel A I already have.

I've used several wireless systems from brands as Sennheisser, Rexer, Mipro and so on. The advantages are wellknown; no more cables, freedom onstage etc.  
But there is a little disadvantage; You can hear it!! All the wireless systems I've played with did something with the sound. Some compressed the sound a tiny bit, some gave a little high boost and a little bass-cut... there was always something! Perhaps not much, but the difference was clear (for me). It also depends on your sound and your playing style.
So if you're looking for a wireless system, then try these things first!!!

I'm with Mica: Cords are a pain, but they don't suffer from RF problems and they do sound best.

My experience parallels Mattheus' in every respect.  While I love the concept of wireless, it does nothing but p*ss me off everytime I try it...

I love my Shure wireless.  Mica may smack me for saying this but a good wireless system will degrade the signal less than any 20 foot cord.

To be honest; I also use a wireless system...
My band plays with a big PA system and it's difficult to hear the difference between a 'corded bass' and a 'wireless bass'. When you play through your own high end backline the difference will be much more noticable.  
 
Another point to look at when you decide to use wireless systems is RF interference. Tiny little radio/microwaves can disturb your signal.. even can get into your electronics of your bass. Fortunately Alembic has a great way of keeping these mean microwaves out of your basses, but there are other basses that don't have that.
And with cheap wireless system you should not be suprised to suddenly hear a cab-driver who is in front of the place you're playing, speak to his boss....

I sometimes use a Shure Access diversity system. I haven't had problems with it, but it's not a permanent fixture in my setup either.
