Hi all,
I just heard that this long planned and awaited book will be published now in April (UK) and May (US) under the title: Bass Culture: The collection of John Entwistle and shows the complete collection of our hero.
I think this will be a must have for all us JE fans.
Will keep you updated with more info when available.

This will make an interesting book for the coffee table. Wasn't there a thread around here about coffee tables earlier? Anyway, it's too bad the limited edition can't be autographed. It's also too bad that the collection has been scattered to the winds. I know if Spyder Ollie had his way he'd put the collection back together in Dueren...

I would like to, but I think I have to ask
Paul TBO to get the S-Team (the stocking team) to help me with this.
BUT...btw I forgot, I have already started to do this. I have purchased a blonde Ovation Elite acoustic bass from John that was auctioned last year at Sothebys. Don?t have it yet, but it will come soon....
Jet, I am trying to bring something to Dueren with my financial possibilites.
Ah I forgot, you know Johns Skeleton strap?
Soon also on my shoulder...
Not the original one, but a rebuildt one by the artisans that have manufactured the straps for John....

Oliver, if you continue with your collection you'll soon be the Who's next bass player. Can't judge about your bass playing but regarding your pic in your profile you 'll still have to work on your outfit. Do you already know John's tailor?

many thanks for your kind post.
My bass playing is totally influenced by John;
but of course lightyears away....
As for the pic, I tried to do it a little JE style but you know, I would have to do a strong diet to get his then contour. You don?t know Johns tailor? Listen to Made In Japan. Then you will know.
As for the pic this is really floating around the web and also members of the Who and of John Entwistles band know this picture and told me: hey you look really cool...
As for the Who, they will do concerts again this year but they will take Pino Paladino again...
So I still need to practise some more... :-)))
Just joking...

Oliver, I don't know if Bassplayer magazine is available in Germany but this month's cover story is on Pino Palladino. He says a lot of good things about John in the interview.

His name is misspelled in the Amazon page title. Just enter Bass Culture as your search.

BTW if you get a match for Linton Kwesi Johnson's BASS CULTURE reggae CD, that's not bad either. You can turn your Q filter all the way down and play along. :-)

has anybody checked out the epic currently on ebay?? the last bid was $500. i find it hard to believe that an epic can be had for $500. of course, the reserve price is not posted. any comments???

I rarely run into people who know LKJ.
Saw him live twice, excellent band. Dennis Blackbeard Bovell is the bass player, very solid, co-writer of a lot of songs and from what I saw, the musical director in the band.

Valentino: I have liked LKJ ever since a friend told me to run out and buy LKJ IN DUB on LP around 1983. Bovell's basslines are great. (I picked up one of his solo albums, however, and it was disappointing.)

I like LKJ's version of deejay reggae - modern dancehall is not to my taste - but if it wasn't for the great backing band LKJ would not be so great. The stuff is very very rootsy and the bass grooves are simple and forceful.
