So how did the Ashdown and Alembic / Glockenklang rigs compare?

Like the way you guys stair-stepped them by size.  Put's the Standard body size in perspective.

Maybe this should become a catalog page.

Very impressive, gentlemen...

Mica, looks like a fine pic for the next Alembic catalogue, no?!
Correction: there is 'much' money to be made above the fifth fret....

GIMMIE GLOCKENKLANG.
I dig tweak peaks and I want Glockenklang cabs/power & Alembic processing.
I need a sponsor.

Looks like you guys had some fun! So come on boys, spill the gory details. What models are represented in this shot?

Well ...from left to right you have Jan WIllem holding Donna what is a 5 string fretless Epiphone El Capitan Cutaway (a real joy to play BTW), than you got an Essence 4 string, mahogany body, walnut top, Volume, pan, filter, than a bubinga Orion (my favourite), a long scale Spoiler with Koa top, than ...well ...you know Bonnie of course and than yours truly holding broomstick.

Ashdown versus Tweak Peaks is not a fair match. I liked the Ashdown but because ther e were only 4 x 10 well ...acceptable but no deep. We put the Glockenklang 15 on the Ashdown and ...hopla ...coming up the deep sounds.

Jan Willem discovered the value of the Series II electronics. In fact: having Series elctronics you don't need another bass soundwise. He didn't like the body however: too large and enormous.
OTOH I didn't like the small bodies.
I spend most of the afternoon in setting up Jan WIllems basses. He was astounded by the low actyion and still playability of Bonnie. So I took the bet I could do that with two of his basses. The Orion and the Essence got the treatment and were playing as a womans leg when JW went home!!!!
Soundwise I Liked the Orion most! I especially tried it with using the SF-2 ...awesome sound!

BTW: I pointed out to Jan WIllem that playing with low action implicates a soft touch. MIca already made that remark about John ENtwistles' basses. When they were given to John nobody in the Alembic factory could play them: they only produced fretnoise and clicking. John played  them flawlessly: an extreme soft touch and ...letting the amp doing the work!!!
I discussed this first with Jan WIllem of course and yes he had to change his playing touchwise but  ...it seemed to work out very well.  The Spoiler was left in it's original set-up  because he wanted a bass that had the old set-up and that bass had the near-to-perfect neck, only the bridge was fairly high.

BTW: I have this set-up skill only thanks to Brother Joey Bigredbass Wilson who unfortunately disappeared from this club. Thanks Joey wherever you may be.
If you want to learn too: there is a threat somewhere with the how to that is for me a MUST PRINT from this siite but where the $&^#*%@Q$(
