Hell everyone , i plan to have amber led's on my future bass , anyone can give me his opinion on these and if possible , blue led's too?

I just received my bass with the blue LED's and they are awesome and bright! I am currently having my next bass with amber LED's they are a little understated but do the job quite nicely.

tkx Rory for these explanations , i heard that amber led's were probably a bit too soft or nicer than efficient...i don't really know but i 'll turn blue for sur , idon't especially like red ones , so...but red's could be great too ,i don't really know...

Hey Alian. I bought that little Series I with Sims LEDs in blue on it. I do not know if they are less bright or brighter than Alembic's blue LEDs. They are fine in regular lighting, but when the lighting gets too low, they pretty much blind me bad enough to where I cannot see my hand at all. The reds on my other bass work fine for me in total darkness. I am thinking a dimmer is definitely in this bass' future. I will say that the blue ones are quite pretty!

Actually, I was wondering if a trim pot could be installed on the LED power switch? Or maybe just make it a 3-way switch with off/half power/full power. It's one of the questions I'll be asking when I spec my custom.

I spoken with Susan about this and she tells me they can put in a dimmer for the LEDS. I didn't ask about a 3-way switch, though. I think an actual rotary dimmer might be more useful, though I'm still on the fence as to whether it is overkill.

I don't want another big knob. I would prefer an internal trim pot with only the toggle visible. The question is, would I bother going inside to adjust it between venues? The answer, probably not without external access like for the pickup settings on a series instrument. Therefore, a 3-way toggle with a couple usable settings seems a better way to go. Figure full on for normal/bright light settings and barely on for dark places.

I think the ideal would be a 3-way with an internal trim pot to control the middle setting. That would take the guess work out of it for Alembic and let the owner get the setting they want. Adjustment wouldn't be that bad for those special occasions when you just have to have it right.

Hey Bob, that is a good idea. It would need a four-way, as it already uses a three-way; Off, Side, Side and Front. I don't care if the fronts get dimmed or not. I think half power to the sides in very low lighting would be about right. I could put a mini-trim pot inside on the switch.

If you are getting a custom, I would thing you would want a variable dimmer, so it could be optomized for any lighting situation you play in.

Tom, my thought was for a side LED only setup, not specifically for your dual LED config.

The dual LED setup is much more complicated. There's more personal preference to account for since you have the various on/off possibilities as well as the full/pertail power alternatives. The matrix of possible settings is much larger. One 3-way toggle per LED set would give a lot of flexibilty, and I think would be less invasive to the top than another knob. You might get by with a single 3-way switch set up DP/DT to cover both sets of LEDs at once and add trim pots wherever you like. With four trim pots, you could set up two 'presets' for your LED settings as you prefer.

Maybe something that looked like one of the pickup selector switches configured to work like this could give you more presets without being that much larger.

I just know that there are enough full-size knobs on the bass already and that I don't need anothe rone for LED control. Heck, I'd rather have stack knobs for my volumes and filters.

Maybe using classy wood knobs would make this less of an issue. I don't know, if I really love my top wood, I can't see wanting to block it with anything.
