Need copy of old recording
« on: January 19, 2006, 05:08:23 PM »
My chapter of the Kiwanis club does a show each year in which we use a very bad recording of an upbeat Beatrice Kaye (I believe) song that has a chorus that goes something like I didn't know the gun was loaded..... And I'll never, ever do it again.  We would like to get a clean copy of it before our next show in early March.  I would appreciate any help you can give me.
I could be wrong, but something tells me this request has George Wright all over it.
Rich

Sorry, Rich :-(.  I have a lot o' old material, but....  Well, I guess that's just not my demographic :-)!

And speaking of not my demographic, I just did a search of MusicMatch and found I Didn't Know That Funk Was Loaded by George Clinton.  Do you think that would be close enough :-)?

Thanks, George.  Somehow I think the guys would not want to substitute George Clinton for Beatrice Kaye.  I have my feelers out to a website that sells old radio shows, including some Beatrice Kaye stuff. I think maybe we'll get lucky pretty soon.

Are you talking about George Wright the pipe organ player? If so I will talk to my father about this to see if he has heard of it and getting you a copy.

Call me self-centered, but I thought he was talking about ME :-)(not the theater organist or the baseball hall-of-famer (with double-parenthesized apologies to all you non-US readers)).  Anyway, Rich, I emailed a friend of mine with an iTunes subscription to see if he can find something there.

Did you already search Google for

There's lots of matches, and some of them even appear to be relevant!

Heard back from my iTunes-capable friend.  There are two versions on iTunes.  One is by the Andrew Sisters off their Andrew Sisters: 50th Anniversary Collection, Vol. 2 album and the other is by The Ray Ellington Quartet off their The Three Bears album.

Edit: Rich, why not email me direct at geo@loyola.edu?  Somehow I think this isn't the most thrilling thread for the rest of the board.
You want me to try to get one/both?

George, what?  Everyone doesn't find this topic as riveting as I do?  Also, let's not forget the George Wright who's a natural foods purchasing agent in Denver.  I'm sure we all know him ... or not.
One thing I've found while googling is that a song with that name has been recorded by at least three different artists.  Our Kiwanis club wants the exact same recording.  I have some e-mails out to a couple of people who sell these old recordings.  One of them is Wright Record Co.
We still have some time so we'll see what turns up.  I'll e-mail you, George.
Dave, I saw all the court cases, too.  You are exactly Wright about the results of that kind of search.
Thanks for all the help everybody.
