hi, I am looking for a source of inexpensive cables for recording.....I need both xlr to xlr, and xlr to 1/4...in the 15 to 20 foot size...I need a price better than what GC offers (40-50 bucks for that type...

Also, Ive been toying with the idea of getting a roll of cable, and making my own as needed....anyone think that is a good idea (maybe a way to save $$$$)?

Try Butch Ammons at Bayou Audio Cables (http://bayoucables.com/). His site is very price-transparent. Believe it or not, he may be able to give you super high quality cable and plugs for an inexpensive price. A lot of people have used his stuff and rave about it. He just did a really fine set for my rack at an outrageously reasonable price. Very good guy. Super highly qualified (trained with same soldering course used by NASA). Bayou Audio Cables does a great job. I ordered a 15' speaker cable: Speakon to Banana connectors. The order was processed in 7 working days (each one is hand made) and was shipped with USPS. This cable is so well made it could easily tow my car. Real easy site to buy from too.

I just got my speaker cables from Bayou. They are great. I loved the fact that I did not have to pay any additional tax or duty from US to Canada!

I just received my order, placed right after I saw Bill's post. (Bill, I really think you should celebrate you new bass with a pizza from Balistreri's. Gosh I miss those...) Came with Neutrik, thought I ordered G&H, my mistake.

Amazing cables. One can't imagine how much more signal gets through vs. the generic Belden/SwitchCraft I was using unless experienced. Highly recommended. One can decide for themselves if they can be considered inexpensive. Worth the price in my opinion.

T did you speak with Butch at Bayou about the Neutrik, he says he wants his customers to be happy, you should see if he would change them for you.. I would not be surprised if he did this for you. Worth a shot.

I am completely satistified; no need to bother him. Thanks for the info. I can live with the connectors. My mistake when ordering. I'll probably find some benefit with them in the long run anyway. But these cables really do make a audible difference. Good stuff. And a nice matching velcro cable tie included with each but the 1ft. long patch cable.

Hey Tom: The Balistreri's are friends (and good restauranteurs). Kids in Cub Scouts together, etc. Did you live in Milwaukee?

Yes, I lived in 'Tosa until I moved to FL in 1990. Their pizza is a must have when I visit my brothers, as is a Kopp's burger, Cousin's sub, and a piece of meat (some call a steak) at the 5 O'Clock Club if I'm lucky. Can't wait for a Suburpia sub on my next trip. Gastronomic delights of Milwaukee!

I was sad to see you sell your Series bass. Of course, it was for sale shortly after I placed my order else I would've jumped on it. And I love your new creation. I'm sure it will take care of you until your next Alembic.
