I am interested in any opinions that club members might have on this unit. Seems like a pretty simple to use effects unit that I would imagine sounds good. Any body used one? Any feedback or advise. I am looking at getting one but would like to know what you guys think. Let me know!

There are a bunch of devices of this nature out there and it really depends what you're looking for. What do you hope to gain from the ME-50B?

I specifically tried out the ME-50B and GT-6B a few months ago when I was looking for a good octave-up generator. Neither was particularly impressive in that role. The GT-6B was a little more powerful and tweakable, but similarly a little more difficult to use. The ME-50B is much simpler.

In general, I find maybe a half dozen usable sounds in any of these multi-effect boxes packaged with a few dozen crazy sounds that don't work in any band situation I've ever been in.

I use the latest Line 6 preamp for amplifier modelling, but not really for any of the effects. There are a couple I could use, I just haven't. I recently acquired an EH POG and it works great for creating the octave up I was looking for. Really fills it in for the power trio group.

I don't know much about the Zoom products, but they might be interesting to try if you're looking for effects as well.

I say just find some killer pedals that do one thing and one thing only! Affordable multi efx units are always loaded w/things you don't need or would use( yeah let's see if we can draw a crowd to listen to us solo on our multi efx. pedals, ha ha ha!). As a matter of fact(or opinion) Digital efx for bass can be really harsh, especially w/active p/ups & pre amps. So analog is the way to go for smoother tones. EBS makes a great chorus pedal(although pricey) which I A/B'd against a Boss Bass Chorus and it made the Boss seem like it was not even working! The only benefit I can see of getting one of those all in one units is that after working with it you will find out what efx you use more of and therfore if you are so inclined get the appropriate pedals. But it's only money....right? Ouch....!

I own an ME-50. I agree about digital effects being a bit rough with the active electronics. It can be tweaked to tolerance however. The ME-50 is easy to use. There is a delay going between patches in memory. That is my biggest gripe though. All I really use it for, for the most part, is a tuner, octave, and occasional distortion. The wah is fun every now and then too! Overall, for the money, I thought it was a great buy. Not great for the studio, good for live if you are not going back and forth between mods. Hope that helps!
