It's very creative, and I may consider doing the same.

For those who are too scared to add any suggestion, or feel the topic is not worth your time, take a cool glance and move on...(there's nothing to see here...) I am sure there's something on another thread that will floats your boat, so please take your negativity somewhere else...

Anyway, following Keavin's leadership, I found some very small and neat little tracking devices which could be inserted in places of your bass (installed before your bass becomes a prime target...), which may help you recover you bass in seconds.

The CATSi, (pronounced cat's eye), is designed to track almost anything, from pets and people through to cars, trucks and anything.

CATS-i is world?s smallest, thinnest and most covert GPS, GSM and RF tracking device ever.

With this kind of system and small as it is, you'll probably catch the criminal within seconds.

Now as far as rewards goes, it's a personal question. What is your bass worth to you, and how much money can you pay to have it returned No questions asked, and dropping all charges...

Keavin, I agree.

GPS for children is also a beautiful idea. However, I am not sure about the safety of such devices and the possible long term negative effects it may have on human cells.

However, using a tracking device inside my Alembic, does not have the same implications.

I actually seen a person (while shopping) place a wrist band attached chain, on their young child, and it made me wonder, what kind of monster would invent such a device.

Anyway, I prefer to talk about Alembic security instead.

A nice rifle/gun safe works , just make sure the dimensions are appropriate for the Alembics in their case's. One can build additional fire protection to position the rifle safe in such as a cabinet that is lined with gypsum/fire-board or embedded in concrete in a wall. Motion detectors on the walls and magnetic reed switch's can be installed on all the doors .A closed circuit camera surveillance system can be an easy start.

Oh my goodness, your read my mind to a T. I-kid-you-not... I was actually looking at rifle Safes at in at least 45 inch (diagonal height) from Costco.

Haaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaa That was a joyful laughter of myself in addressing my own paranoia.

Hal , I was at Costco Too recently and may have seen the same model safe. LOL ! It looked OK but had external hinges. However it did look nice and even had a nice large chrome twirl handle on it !

Back to the seriousness of this discussion and nature therein,

I checked our local Costco warehouse, and seen a perfect safe. The safe looked like it could physically hold up to(4) full scale Alembic basses -- plenty of head room and inner space or gaps allowed, so the basses don't rub up against each other.

The unit price is $499.00 and the whole unit wights 500 pounds.

It has a digital combination and a nice size grip wheel, on the vaulted heavy doors.

Check to see if it had external hinges.(easy to defeat) I personally would stay away from an electronic digital combination lock. If you wanted to fit in a full size standard point (wide) case you need the safe's inside dimensions to be at least 20deep; that way you can put the Bass's in a row instead of a pile.

Yeah, I don't really like the safe idea... Safes are just too dog-on heavy. I don't need to have my house look like something from a western.. Well's Fargo Bank deposit

When I am on travel, The bass will just be tracked/stored in my new anvil case; locked inside the trunk of my car; contained inside a locked garage.

That's enough of a steel barrier, and fangs of an Akita...

I left my bass outside my church after locking up and was return by the guy who found it that night. I offered a reward of $200.00 but he said no thanks, He said that the bass looked expensive and just wanted to return it to it owner. If some other person would have found it I would have never seen it again.

Dang Ronald... you left it outside??? I can't say much: I left ALL my basses in my hall closet when we left town for a series of gigs around the SE. I didn't realize it until sound check the first night. Doh!!!!!
