Anyone Tried A KJL Amp?
« on: June 11, 2006, 01:14:11 PM »
Hey everyone:

I have an offer to trade my 1978 Ibanez Musician Guitar for a 1991 KJL Dirty 30 112 Combo.  Anyone know anything about these amps?

Thanks Dave.  I'd checked those out.  A few fawning fans on H-C and a VERY basic manufacturer's website.  I went to the guy's house and played it yesterday.  They don't call it a dirty 30 for nothing.  If one wants a dirty tone for heavy metal or grunge, this is a great amp for the $.  I just couldn't get it to clean up and, if you can't play clean, what's the point of playing an Alembic?

On my Little Bear (Skylark electronics), with the filter turned all the way, through my Hiwatt, it sounds EXACTLY like an amplified acoustic guitar. I was blown away! Talk about clean.

Bill; after reading the reviews on HC, I was ready to buy one myself; and I neither play nor own a guitar.
