Flax,

There is at least one factual error in Phil's post.  Vince's first couple of shows were without Bruce.  Phil incorrectly states that Vince's first 'solo' show was after Horsby had 'moved on.'  As to the rest of it.....

Vince's story with the band has been a reality check for all those that love the remaining Dead.  It's not pretty.

Wow!  That may be the best live Grateful Dead vocals ever!  Thanks James!

There was a nice tribute to Vince on David Gans' Dead to the World radio broadcast from June 14. At just after 1:34:00 of the stream is an interview with Weir and a cut (Welnick's Long Way to Go Home) from his recent Ratdog appearance at the Health and Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa last weekend.

This link from Vinnie's board gives another side of the Chronicle story.

Wow! This is an ugly story that keeps getting uglier all the time. This is a no-win situation that's spiraling out of control. I feel sorry for Vince and all his loved-ones as the muckraking is in high gear. It also casts the remaining Dead members in a questionable light.

Can't we all just get along guys and make great music together before it's too late to do so? I thought old age was supposed to bring wisdom? Apparenty, it hasn't for the GD family. Pity.
