Steely Dan On-Tour In '06!!!

$7k?  They go out the door here in Indiana for $5k, with a list of $5.2k.  The brakes are not an issue for me, as I can just about stoppie it, but then I have the gentle touch of a bass player!  Riding it 'til the wheels fall off isn't bad advice though.  And remember to change the gas often...  ;)

By golly, I guess you're right! My bro must have added the ego saving tax of $2G's, LOL!

With my 220#, the KLR didn't wanna stop so good, never mind stoppie. I personally feel that's the real weak point of the bike. I don't ride off road, so I can't vouch for the KLR's tires/brakes/suspension in those conditions. Since $5k doesn't buy much bike these days, Kawi has done a decent job putting together a package that, while far from State-Of The-Art, is certainly competent enough for it's intended purpose(s).

While not a sport bike, my 1000# Harley FLHRCI stops rings around that KLR...well, it does have dual 6-pot differential bore billet PM calipers up front w/S.S. floating rotors, and a 4-pot diff. bore PM billet caliper and CI rotor out back (all with Kevlar-Teflon reinforced S.S. braided brake lines). That, skinny tires and high weight (especially in the rear) allows some short stopping distance. All that extra weight allows you to really stick the thing (without locking the front).

I don't know what all the fuss over anti-lock brakes are...H-D's had 'em for years...high weight and substandard brakes can't lock no matter how hard you squeeze! LOL!

O.K.

On behalf of the non-motorcyclists in the club, I hereby officially invoke the ancient incantation that will invariably cause this thread to take a sharp detour from its present course:

Anyone like beer?

Thanks Bill, but I've got a coffee right here so I'm fine!  I've got some work related chores in town to do, and a few errands while I'm there, then I'm thinking of heading to the Devil's Courthouse Trail for some hiking later this afternoon.  But I better get moving if I hope to do that today!  Enjoy your morning beer!

I saw the Dan three summers ago in Denver. They came on- Fagan played the first chord of Aja, the crowd got up on its feet- ......forget about it.
One of the best shows i have ever seen- despite the fact that Fagan was a little off ( I think the altitude was working on him) and the sound was not terrific, still what great music played by the masters- Don't miss it.JS
