Hi, im considering to put a Khaler tremolo bridge to my 4 String Bass; so, if any had an experience using those kind of bridge or some advice regarding that matter, i realy would apreciatte it so much.

Hey there, my advice -- pick up a cheap bass and put it on there and try it out first that way. Kahlers require a routing underneath for the springs -- not as much as a standard guitar whammy bar, but still..dat be permenant matey.

I put one on my old BC Rich Eagle...it was a great improvement...the rollers make for a wonderful bridge even without the trem. it's a very smooth trem as well.

but yes, as trekster said, it requires some routing..the bridge has a lot of mass.

I used to have one of these a long time ago. What others say about the routing is true. Also, unless they've changed the design, there's no locking nut on these things -- you will probably have tuning issues.

We've installed many of these over the years, but haven't done one in maybe 10 years. We have also removed a lot of them.

This Series I was on the club recently and has a Kahler, maybe the new owner can tell you something about how it's working compared to his fixed-bridge Alembics.

I have a Kahler on my '87 Peavey Dyna Bass Unity Series Limited. I can tell you that it works great - I have no intonation issues. It does require a good amount of routing, so if this is an issue, don't do it. However, it's awesome in the sense you have that whammy for different effects most bass players don't.

I like mine. You might too.

I'll add one more thing...
if you do go with the whammy, whatever you do...
DON'T use an octave divider while using the whammy at full tilt!

you'll blow speakers! even 800 watt EVM's!!

Kahler Bass Trems don't work that way -- they don't route the spring cavity completely thru the body..only about 3/4 of the way thru (depending on how thick the body is).. a photo of the rear isn't gonna show anything.
