Anybody here play piano?
« on: September 12, 2006, 05:07:42 PM »
Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone on this board was pretty good at piano? A few friends of mine and I are wanting to do a song for our senior talent show, and I need to learn the song on piano. Problem is, I dont know how to read music, and I'm not nearly good enough to learn by ear on the instrument. The song is  'ol 55 by Tom Waits (The Eagles did a cover of it). If anyone can help me out by telling me what chords/notes he plays at different parts of the song, I would greatly appriceate it.

If you have something, send it on over to syphonation@hotmail.com

thanks very much

Excellent choice of material.  Ol' 55 and the rest of the songs on Closing Time are great.  Vintage Waits.  I saw him do this material in the mid 70's when he opened for Martin Mull and his Fabulous Furniture at the Troubador in L.A.  Halfway through his set, Waits reaches into the inside pocket of his sports jacket, takes out an open half full beer, takes a big swig, looks at the audience and says, deadpan: came with the coat.  Broke me and my friends up.

Good luck with the show, Jimmy.

The piano has been drinking has been a favourite of mine for years - try and write out the changes on that.

Non-piano favourite: Pasties and a G String. And who needs Tom Traubert's Blues anyway.
